bills dieing

so we're killing bills in Judiciary right now. I feel bad for voting no on James Oherneschall's bill on including "homeless persons" under hate crimes status. murder is murder is murder. Don't really like the idea of some people getting greater penalties based on who they kill. We should not have harsher sentences based on who is killed. The life of a homeless person is not worth more than a white guy or a asian person or a homosexual person. "Hate crimes" are a joke.

Anyway, I watched the freshman lawmaker work tirelessly on this bill. And I feel sad that he came 2 votes short of getting it out of committee. Plus Susan Gerhardt-D is absent so he probably shoulda had another yes vote. Oh well...

Jason saved Judge Glass' keester this morning....she CAME to carson city to personally attend the work session her bill (2nd attempt). She came to the table without a copy of the statute, Jason saved the day by using his trusty computer to pull up the statute and sweep in and save her. Good thing...I was going to move to IP!
